We have been hard at work getting the land ready to plant the trees during winter 2024/25. The first step was getting the grass topped. A friend offered to do it (in exchange for tea and a sausage sandwich) with his vintage 1965 Fordson tractor.

Unfortunately a few technical difficulties meant he could only do half of the field. However as we live in such a great rural community it only took a few phone calls and a local teenager offered to finished it off in exchange for some pocket money.
The next step was preparing the ground for the fencing to go in. We can’t plant until the fences are as the young trees need protection from grazing by the neighbouring sheep and wandering deer. We had to clear some bushes where the access gate is going to be and plant out the marker posts for the fence corners.
